Wolfgang Trutschnig
Head of the IDA Lab
Wolfgang Trutschnig is Professor of Statistics at the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Human Interfaces (AIHI) at PLUS and head of the IDA Lab. He works mainly on methodological and applied issues in the field of dependency modelling and non-parametric statistics and can look back on many fruitful and exciting interdisciplinary projects with partners from industry and academia.

Arne Bathke
Arne Bathke is Professor of Statistics at the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Human Interfaces (AIHI) at PLUS. One of his main research areas is the development of non-parametric methods for analysing complex (e.g. multivariate) data. In addition, he has been involved in numerous interdisciplinary and international research projects and has extensive experience in working with partners from academia, industry and public administration.
Christian Borgelt
Deputy Head of the IDA Lab
Christian Borgelt is Professor of Data Science at the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Human Interfaces (AIHI) at PLUS and one of the two deputy directors of the IDA Lab. He works on a variety of data analysis methods, with a particular focus on frequent pattern mining and clustering. He is known for a large number of free implementations of data mining methods, many of which have been applied in collaboration with industry.
Simon Hirländer
Deputy Head of the IDA Lab
Simon Hirländer is a PostDoc at the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Human Interfaces (AIHI) and deputy head of the IDA Lab.
He heads the "Smart Analytics & Reinforcement Learning" team. His research focuses on machine learning, in particular reinforcement learning, with applications for optimising technical systems. He gained several years of research experience at CERN, where he also completed his doctorate. There he worked on optimising the performance of the accelerator complex using machine learning methods.

Ulrike Ruprecht
Project manager of the IDA Lab
Ulrike Ruprecht is the research, innovation and project manager of the IDA Lab. She has a scientific background in biology with a focus on biodiversity and the evolution of cold-adapted organisms.
She is responsible for the administration and organisation of the IDA Lab. If you have any questions, please contact Ulrike Ruprecht, who will be happy to put you in touch with the relevant team.
Erika Diaz
Assistant Lab Manager
Erika Diaz is a project management assistant at the IDA Lab. She provides support in various administrative and organisational tasks and uses her technical skills to continuously optimise the website and digital presence.
She has been studying Artificial Intelligence at the University of Salzburg since the winter semester 2024.
